NSAIDS Flashcards
What do people take these drugs for
Used for relieving mild pain, reducing inflammation and reduce High fevers
What ways can these drugs affect the kidneys
Reduced blood flow to glomerulus( causes vasoconstriction, where arteries become narrower making it hard for blood to pass = less blood flow) , increases blood pressure ( more forces from each thing pushing through arteries) , some direct damage to renal arêtiers ( from high blood pressure and arteries constricting, substances in blood can damage the lining of the glomerulus )
Loses GFR glomerulus filtration rate, nsaids will slow down how the rate of filtration at the glomerulus. Less waste filtered from blood, more fluid and blood retained in body
What aspects of normal kidney function is disrupted
Filtration, lowers glomerulus filtration rate
