What are the indications for use
A
- Prevent clot extension + recurrent in DVT + PE
- Prevent embolic complications (stroke) in AF + heart valve replacement

What is the mechanisms of action
A
- Inhibits hepatic production of vit K (in its reduced form) dependant coagulation factors/cofactors.
Inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase = prevent reactivation of vit K & coagulation factor synthesis.

What are the side effects
A
Bleeding
- epistasis
- retroperitoneal haemorrhage
- peptic ulcers
- intra-cranial haemorrhage

- immediate risk haemorrhage
- liver disease
- pregnancy
