Partitive constructions defitnition (quantifiers and qualifiers)

A

Count and noncount nouns can both enter a construction denoting part of a whole. It may refer either to a)quantity or b)quality and the partition may be singular or plural.
It affords a means of imposing a number on noncount nouns since the partition is generally expressed by a count noun of partitive meaning which can be both singular, or plural, usually followed by an of-phrase
