Notes Flashcards
Aluminum v steel tanks
When aluminum is half empty it goes from neg to pos, steel will always be neg, so aluminum needs more weight
Charles law
Gases expand when heated; law of volume, every degree F goes up. 5 psi
Dalton’s law
Law of partial pressure, when you go down N2 goes up
Boyles law
Pressure increases as volume decreases, why you never hold your breath
Archemedy’s Principle
1 cubic foot of seawater equals 64 pounds, so if an object is 60 pounds it will float, 70 pounds will sink
First aid for DCS or a lung expansion injury
1st aid: 100% pure oxygen, Treatment: chamber
1 bar equals
14.7 psi, 1 atmosphere, 33 ft under water, 1400 pounds of pressure
Boyles law + balloons
Balloon: 1/2 the size at 33 ft with 29.4 psi, 1/3 the size at 66 ft with 44.1 psi, 1/4 the size at 99 ft with 59.6 psi
