Actuary
An accredited business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. They are professionally trained in insurance mathematics, who have well defined analytical skills, business knowledge and an understanding of human behavior. Actuaries develop manual rate calculations, develop reserves, set dividends calculations, other valuations methods, and develops statistical studies and reports.
Adds & Changes
This team processes employee-level changes to the billing system to ensure policyholders’ bills are accurate.
Allsup
A vendor that assists with social security disability claims application process, including initial application, appeal, and overpayment recovery. Allsup can begin assistance even if a claim has been already initiated without them. The Policy outlines if claimants can receive assistance with Social Security application. Services are free of charge to claimants while they are covered under the Policy.
American United Life (AUL)
Formed in 1936, American United Life is the founding member of OneAmerica.
Broker
An Insurance Broker is a person not employed by AUL that serves as an intermediatory to sell AUL insurance products. They are generally paid by fee or commission.
Business Analyst
A member of the IT team who works as a liaison between the business and IT to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and implement system changes, repairs and enhancements.
Claim Administrator
(ERISA)
Administers claims under the Plan (e.g. OA).
ComPsych
An Employee Assistance Program and FMLA vendor.
Corporate Support Services (CSS)
The Enterprise team that handles all incoming post mail, scans and indexes documents to AWD for processing, and supplies printed materials for brokers, policyholders, and the enterprise.
Custom Disability Solutions (CDS)
A full-service group disability claims management company based in Portland, Maine. From 2016-2018, this group managed disability claims for Employee Benefits (EB) policyholders as a reinsurer. As of January 1, 2019 this group became part of OneAmerica and EB’s in-house disability claims management team.
Department of Insurance (DOI)
A state-level body that governs the insurance business. This includes but is not limited to reviewing and approving group contract language and provisions before they may be provided to a policyholder, and licensing and regulating insurance professionals.
Department of Labor (DOL)
A federal cabinet-level department responsible for occupational safety, wage and hour standards, unemployment insurance benefits, reemployment services, and some economic statistics. Many states also have such departments.
Endorsements
An Enterprise team responsible for, as well as, an actual document that adds, deletes, excludes or changes insurance coverage and can also be used to increase standard limits of coverage and take precedent over the original agreement or Policy.
Group Contact Center (GCC)
EB’s customer service and call center team. This team handles all incoming internal and external customer inquiry calls and emails.
Medical Underwriting Support Unit (MUSU)
The team that reviews applications for coverage that require Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
