not this test Flashcards
What is the centeral dogma
Dna to mRNA to protiens
does mRNA take place in transcription or translation
transcription
does protiens take place in transcription or translation
translation
what are the three structural differences between RNA and DNA
1). DNA is double stranded RNA is single, 2). DNA contains deoxyribose sugar while RNA contains ribose sugar
3). DNA contains thymine while RNA contains Uracil
What enzyme helps with transcription?
RNA polymerase
What are the building blocks of proteins? What type of bond holds them together?
Amino acids are the building blocks of protiens and peptide bonds hold them together
At the end of translation, is the protein ready to function? Explain.
No the protien is not ready to function because it has to fold into a 3-D shape first
Explain denaturation and how it relates to enzymes.
Denaturation is the unfolding of the DNA which causes the shape to change and the function to change due to high temperaturees and changes in pH.
What are some functions of proteins in the body?
Cellular structures, enzymes, antibodies, etc
