What is a norm?
Specific rules that govern human behaviour in particular situations
What is a value?
Fundamental beliefs, general principles for human behaviour or principles by which a particular groups of people choose to live their lives.
Examples of norms
To pay for things in a shop, follow instructions of parents and teachers, to show everyday, to queue if more than one person is waiting for something
Examples of values
One should be polite when queuing in a line, one should not lie when asked a question, one should not harm other when they say something you don’t like
What are the norms associated with dating in the 1950s?
Deeper commitment, asking politely to meet at a place - met in person, courtship, no sex, more elaborate dates

Asking for socials, parties, cat fished, long-distance relationships, casual sex, online meeting, fear of commitment, cheating is normalised
