A

England was divided in 134 shires, issued a charter (a written royal order) giving people the same liberties as under Edward, Writs which were provided by the Chancery

What are some changes in courts and trials?

A

Normans introduced honourial court or Lord’s court where the lord dealt with crimes or property transactions on his land, Shire courts now met more regularly (about violence and theft), Trial by ordeal continued also introduced trials by combat

Changes in Law enforcement

A

Villages had constables for arrests and watchmen to enforce curfew, hue and cry meant that everyone shared responsibility to alert people to a crime and help find the suspect, tithings created to stop others committing crimes
