Q

Explain the procedure for the run-up check:

A
  1. All necessary systems - ON - TEST
  2. Hydraulic checks - Accumulator checks and Hydraulic pressure isolation check
    - When minimum engine oil temperature is reached:
  3. FFCL - FLIGHT detent, maintaining a constant rate of rotor acceleration
NOTE: Do not allow Nr value to remain steady between 300 and 320 rpm during engine acceleration
    - When Nr >= 340 rpm:
  4. [HORN] - ON, HORN light goes out
    CHECK audio warning:
    - ON for Nr <= 360 rpm
    - OFF for Nr > 360 rpm
  5. Nr indication - CHECK in lower normal operating range
  6. [FIRE/TST] - PERFORM, check ENG FIRE + gong sounds
  7. Parameters check - No warning light illuminated, Electrical system voltage and current, Engine oil pressure

Q

How do you carry out an accumulator check?

A
  1. Collective - CHECK correctly locked
  2. [ACCU TST] - ON
  3. CWP - CHECK HYDR flashes
  4. Collective and Cyclic controls - HANDS ON
  5. Move the cyclic control 2 to 3 times on each axis (+/- 10%) and check for accumulator hydraulic assistance on pitch and roll (no control loads). Check that forces are felt on the pedals
  6. [ACCU TST] - reset to OFF position
  7. CWP - CHECK HYDR light out

Q

How do you perform a hydraulic pressure isolation check?

A
  1. Collective - CHECK correctly locked
  2. Hydraulic cut-off switch - SET to OFF
  3. CWP - CHECK HYDR light is on
  4. Check that loads are immediately felt and that the cyclic can be moved in pitch and roll with normal feedback loads. Yaw pedals loads should stay low (yaw load compensator effect)
  5. Hydraulic cut-off switch - SET to ON
  6. CWP - CHECK HYDR light extinguishes in 3 to 4 sec.
    * Maintenance action must be performed prior to flight if this time is reduced to 1 sec. or greater than 4 sec. (at least one of the accumulators is faulty)

  2. Emergency fuel shut-off lever - FORWARD
  3. NG - CHECK <= 10%
  4. [FUEL PUMP]s - ON
  5. [CRANK] - PRESS IN for 30 sec. max.

Q

What is the max. tank capacity?

A

540 liters - 142.7 US gal - 941 pounds

17
Q

What is the fuel burn rate?

A

30% / hour

18
Q

How does the start up, Run up and shutdown procedure change in high winds? (> 30 kts)

A

Start up
- As soon as N1 > 67% FFCL - FLIGHT detent
Run up check
- Perform the hydraulic checks with the FFCL in FLIGHT detent and Nr at nominal speed
Engine and rotor shutdown
- Allow engine oil to cool with FFCL in FLIGHT detent

19
Q

How does the startup procedure change in cold weather ops?

A

Same start as normal except:
- Engine oil temperature - MONITOR
When Engine oil temperature >0C:
1. CWP - CHECK ENG P light out
2. FFCL - FLIGHT detent
