Rejected takeoff procedure:
normal procedure (3)
overrun (4)
and max practice speed
Abort takeoff:
- Throttle Both Idle
- Rudder maintain directional control
- brakes as req.
overrun:
- Fuel selector off
- mixture IDLE cutoff
- Ignition off
- Electric master off
Max practice speed + 35kts
EFATO:
Gear down
Gear still down :
Abort takeoff and land straight ahead
Level off and Cruise
When to start level off procedures?
What are the 5 cruise types, power settings and speeds
Procedure:
10% of climb rate prior to the selected altitude pitch down to attain level flight
Cruise settings: (AFM 5-5)
- Training Cruise 22” / 2200rpm +-120kts mix rich
- Fast Cruise 75% pwr +- 155kts
- Normal Cruise 65% pwr +- 145 kts
- Long Range Cruise 55% pwr +- 135kts
- Endurance 45%pwr (AFM 5-5)
Descent Procedure:
TOD calculation
Procedure, speed, power
Determine height loss
Divide by 1000 then multiply by 5 plus 2
Complete Descent procedures including arrival briefing
Mixture full rich
Recommended IAS 130-140kts
Power 18” / 2200RPM Adjust as req for 500ft/min
Stable Approach Criteria: (6+2+*)
Minimum stable approach heights
- Aircraft on correct flight path
- Small changes in heading / pitch only to maintain correct flight path
- Airspeed is not more than Vref +10kts (Vref +20 IAS for DA42 Instrument approaches) and not less than Vref
- Aircraft in correct landing configuration
- Sink rate is not greater than 1000fpm (glide approach excluded)
- Briefing and checklist is completed
7.ILS approach must be within 1/2 scale deflection of glide slope and localiser.
During Circling approach or low level circuits wings should be level in final approach when the aircraft reaches 300ft above airport elevation.
- Unique approach procedures or abnormal conditions require a special briefing in multi crew or single crew req. contingency planning
A go around must be executed if the aircraft is not stable or become unstable below the following minimum heights:
VMC: 200ft above airport elevation (must be on final approach by 500ft)
IMC: 1000ft above airport elevation.

Explain the circuit procedure steps for simulated engine failure.
Starting from downwind (9)
After Phase one actions (speeds, power settings)
- adjust power and configuration as required to maintain performance
- before landing checks (Hold Gear)
- 100kts minimum
- prior to the base turn select pitch full fine
- Base level turn max AOB 30deg
- on base landing assured - Gear Down (3 greens)
Go down maintain Vyse+10 (100kts) - Flap as required
- Final turn Earlier than normal max AOB 20deg
- final checks and maintain 90kts
Engine Failure on Base procedure: (4)
on base:
- Phase 1 actions (Pitch hold, Power increase 25”)
- Flap and Gear as required for performance
- Feather failed engine
- minimum 90kts
