Develops in adulthood
Clearly or milky fluid
Lies above and behind the testes
Transluminal
Epedydimal cyst investigation and treatment

What is a Hydrocele? Who does it affect
Fluid within the tunica vaginalis
Younger
No pain, non tender swelling
What is a primary hydrocele associated with?
Associated with a patent processus vaginalis that normally resolves in the 1st year
What is a secondary hydrocele associated with?
Tumour, trauma, infection
What is the investigation and treatment for a hydrocele?
Ultrasound
Aspiration
Surgery if it doesn’t resolve (usually does so by itself) - placating the tunica vaginalis
What is a varicocele
Dilated veins in the pampiniform plexus (varicose veins)
Left side more commonly affected
How does a varicocele present
Descended scrotal blood vessels that feel like a bag of worms
Patient may experience a dull ache
Investigation for varicocele
Venography
Treatment for varicocele
Surgery - ligate gonadal veins
What is a haematocele, how would you treat?
Blood in the tunica vaginalis
