Non-Class Electrical Flashcards
Rounds for Non-Class Switchgear Room?
- Breaker Lights and Relay Flags
- FBT available on NAN-S01 and S02
- Equipment locker stocked and locked
- Ground Faults on NKN-M45, M46
- Battery fluid levels and 1 Battery Exhaust Fan
Fast Bus Transfer Occurs When…
- Bus xfr switch is in auto
- Generator trip has occurred
- Early B contact must be
satisfied - Synch check relay must be
satisfied - No bus lockout
- Voltage must be available
on NAN-S03 & S04
NBN-S01/S02 Fast Bus Transfer When…
- Normal Service Transformer Fault
- Normal Supply Breaker Open
- Voltage sensed on opposite bus
- Synch check relay satisfied
- No lockout on ether bus
Red Light Out on Breaker Means?
- If should be on, bulb is burnt out
- If red light not lit, then trip circuit may not function
- If green light is on, then red should not
How do you Verify All Grounds are Removed?
- Open up the front door to make sure there is no grounding truck on top of the breaker
- Open the back door to make sure there is no grounding strap still installed
Which batteries/battery chargers can supply NKN-M45/M46?
- NKN-M45 can have E, E1 or EF battery charger
- NKN-M46 can have EF or F charger suppling it
Describe how to shift battery chargers
- Make before break
- Parallel the chargers together then remove the first charger by opening the DC output and AC input breakers
Describe and explain the Light Indicators on a 4160 Breaker
Red: breaker closed with continuity through trip coil
Green: breaker open and racked in
Bright Green: breaker tripped on a fault or is in TEST position
White: 86 Lockout is reset
Clear: closing springs charged
What is the procedure for relay resetting? Describe main requirements
- CRS/SM, electrical maintenance, PR&C are all informed
- Identify the relay that needs resetting and follow the applicable appendix to reset
- An IV will be necessary
What equipment is affected by a loss of normal power to NKN-M46?
- ESOP
- EBOP
- Main FW Pump “A”& ‘B’
- Emergency LO Pump
- NKN-D44 and D45
- Normal and emergency access
personnel air lock - Normal control power to NAN-S06 and
alternate to S05
On a loss of normal power to NKN-M46, which 2 pumps should be last to turn off?
EBOP
ELOP
What is the difference between a soft and hard ground?
Hard Ground = < 3000 ohms
Soft Ground = > 3000 ohms
< 35,000 ohms
What is the procedure for minimizing breaker damage while racking?
01DP-0IS13 Electrical Safe Work Practices
What is the source of control power for the RCPs and CW pumps?
CW A and B – NKND41
CW C and D – NKND42
RCPs control power – NKND44
How do you Reset Thermal Overloads?
On MCC’s, there will be a black reset button on the front that you will press
Kirk Key interlock
NAN-S01/s02 supplies three load centers on one single breaker
On the load center itself, there is a disconnect. The B2 feeder breaker needs to be open and then a key that is in the breaker can be removed which locks the breaker open. The key can be put into the disconnect door to manually open the disconnect stabs
The aux and main stabs need to all come out ensuring the 13.8 kV is isolated from the load center to remove one load center from the others instead taking out all three load centers on the NAN breaker
OE on kirk key is the aux stab not coming apart on our SWYD load centers NGN-L43 L44
