Non-associative learning Flashcards
What factors contribute towards normal behaviour?
It always serves a function, it’s performed in correct context and is expected of physically and phychologically healthy animals.
What factors contribute towards abnormal behaviour?
Falls outside of normal behaviour pattern for class or age, occurs at a different frequency or intensity than would be considered normal and is out of context.
What is HABITUATION?
The process of decreasing an innate response to a frequently repeated stimulus.
What is SENSITISATION?
The process of increasing an innate response to a frequently repeated stimulus.
What is FLOODING?
High intensity - all at once; fast (if it works); can be effective, not as long lasting.
What is SYSTEMIC DESENITISATION?
Low intensity - strategic and grandual, slow, low level, generally more effective; last longer and goes at animals pace and emotional threshold.
