What is the common naming rule for an anion that is not apart of a polyatomic?
ide replaces the ending of the name of the element
eg. oxide, nitride, fluoride
What is difference between the name of a metallic element and a metallic ion?
The element is just the name of the metal, the ion is name of the element, followed by the roman numeral charge (only applies to metals with more than one charge), followed by ion.
(eg. iron (III) ion, sodium ion)

FALSE, DO NOT CAPITALIZE NAMES
What is the naming rule for an ionic compound?
The name of the cation followed by the name of the anion which has an ide ending.
What is the naming rule for a molecular compound?
The first atom is listed with a prefix unless it has a quantity of 1, then the second atom is listed with the prefix no matter what the quantity is.
