Factors that are external to the receiver and interfere with persons ability to hear or listen
Ex. Smells, background noise, being called on, moving chair
What is physiological noise and examples
Biological factors in the receiver that interfere with the ability to accurately receive the message
Ex. Hard of hearing, pain, decreased vision, upset stomach, full bladder
What is psychological noise
Cognitive factors that interfere with the receivers ability to accurately receive the message
Ex. Emotions, insecurities, beliefs, culture, perceptions

Listening that is genuine and you are interested in what the speaker is saying
