• 1973 the introduction of ‘the war powers act’ required the president to have to discuss the matter with congress before sending American troops into prolonged action
• In the following year ‘the congressional budget and impoundment control act’ meant that the president now had limits on how he could use his money, and did not allow him to use money for his own purposes.
• Lastly, in 1974 the ‘election campaign act’ was introduced which set limits on campaign contributions to prevent corruption, which therefore limited the presidents powers.
