Starts in atmosphere/ transfer to plants by lighting or bacteria/ bacteria combined enzyme combining nitrogen and hydrogen to produce ammonia/ plants absorb through roots/ animals eat plants/ animal waste gives ammonia to soil/ ammonia creates nitrates and nitrites through soil living bacteria/ nitrates and nitrates return to atmosphere through bacteria
