Q

How does the nitrogen cycle start?

A

Free nitrogen in the atmosphere can be fixated by bacteria called RHIZOBIUM LEGIMINOSORUM or it can be fixated by lightning which
Turns the free Nitrogen (N2) into Ammonia (NH3)

Q

After Nitrogen becomes Ammonia what happens next with the Ammonia in the nitrogen cycle?

A

Ammonia then goes through a process of Nitritation which is done by NITROSOMONES and NITROSOCOCCUS and
Turns the Ammonia (NH3) into Nitirite (NO2)

Another way is for the ammonia to immediately turn into nitrate by the process of Nitrification which
Turns Ammonia (NH3) into Nitrate (NO3)

Q

What happens after Ammonia turns into Nitrite?

A

The Nitrite then goes through a process of Nitratation which is done by NITROBACTER which
Turns the Nitrite (NO2) into Nitrate (NO3)

Q

After Nitrite becomes Nitrate or if Ammonia becomes Nitrate immediately what happens to the Nitrate in the nitrogen cycle?

A

The Nitrate is then given back to plants or trees in the process of Assimilation.

The Nitrate can also go through the process of Dentrification which dead plants and animals decomposes and nitrogen in released into the atmosphere or basically it turns the Nitrate back into Nitrogen and is given back to the atmosphere

Q

After Assimilation what can happen in the nitrogen cycle?

A

After assimilation when Plants leaves die the bacteria AZOTOBATER undergoes the process of Ammonification which
Turns dead leaf into Ammonia (NH3)
