Nihilism Flashcards
what is nihilism
Moral nihilism also known as ethical nihilism is the meta-ethical view that nothing is objectively morally right or objectively morally wrong
what is the difference between moral nihilism and moral relativism
Moral nihilism is distinct from moral relativism, which allows for actions to be wrong relative to a particular culture or individual
what are the 3 stages of moral nihilism
Embrace Your Total Freedom, become a prisoner of reason, question basically everything
what is it meant by stage 1-Embrace Your Total Freedom
Understand there is no right or wrong
No one can tell you what to think or feel
what is meant by stage 2- become a prisoner of reason
There’s no point in being either ‘good or evil’
One might as well adopt prosocial values (being a good person)
what is meant by stage 3- question basically everything
What does prosocial mean anyway?
