Q

*Noble Morality

A

The good side that he wants society to focus on. - Associate nobility (the Irish and powerful) as morally right.

  • Nobles are naturally moral
  • Triumphant Affirmation - “Yes” to oneself
  • Spontaneous - They create action

Examples:

  • Spontaneous
  • Selfish
  • Emotional
  • Authentic
  • Courageous
  • Irrational
  • Risky
  • Violent
  • Respects its enemies
  • Indifferent to its inferiors

Negative concept of the low is only a pale image of comparison.

  • Noble sometime abuses slave - but no purposely - but in general experiences indifference, contempt, negligence, dismissiveness, pity and forbernance.
  • Nobles abuse slaves unintentionally because of the slaves “inferiority”
  • Because of the power difference between the two.

*3 Steps to the “Animal Allowed to Promise”

A

Identifies bad conscience as our tendency to see ourselves as sinners and locates its origins in the need that came with the development of society to inhibit our animal instincts for aggression and cruelty and to turn them inward upon ourselves.

To breed the animal allowed to promise, one must first make the human being regular, predictable…
- Morality, custom and the social straight jacket.

  1. Following nature drives
  2. Following the “social straitjacket”
  3. Deciding and promising for yourself

Q

Nobility Resentiment vs Slave Ressentiment

A

Nizetche will argue here that Slaves are bad and Nobles are good based off their actions.

  • Nobles don’t know what they are doing is wrong because of their ignorance and superiority
  • Slaves are now being angry and vengeful
  • Slaves are being reactive to the spontaneity of the nobles
  • While the actions of the nobles are not morally correct at least their are not “seething with hatred” like the slaves
