Newtons Laws Of Motion Flashcards
What is the relationship between force, mass and acceleration
F=ma
A=f/m
M=f/a
What is the relationship between weight, mass and gravity
W=mg
M=w/g
G=w/m
What does Newton’s first law entail?
Inertia
Every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion (constant speed) in a straight line unless compelled to change it’s state by the action of an external force.
What does Newton’s second law entail?
F(res)=mxa
The acceleration of an object increases if the resultant force on it increases, and decreases if the mass of the object increases.
Acceleration is directly proportional to the size of the resultant force and inversely proportional to the mass of the object
What did Newton’s third law entail?
For every force in nature, there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
Forces result from interactions
