Newtons law's of motion Flashcards
what is force ?
force changes an objects state of motion (N)
What is inertia?
inertia is the resistance of a body to change its state of motion.
- as soon as an object or body over come inertia it has momentum
- the bigger the mass the bigger the inertia
what is momentum?
momentum is the amount of motion a body posesses
What is newtons first law?
for every object in a state of motion, it tends to remain in the state of motion unless an external force is applied to it
- known as the law of inertia
what is Newtons second law?
acceleration of an object with a constant mass is directly proportional to the force acting on it
- known as the law of acceleration
- Force = Mass x Acceleration
what is Newtons third law ?
for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
- know as the law of reaction
- the most common application of this law is a persons body weight causing a ground reaction force.
