Newtons Law Flashcards
What’s happens during Inertia?
An object will not change its motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
If it is at rest it will stay at rest
If it is in motion, it will remain at the same velocity
If an object has more mass what happens to Inertia?
As mass increases Inertia increases so it takes more force to change their motion
As mass decreases inertia decreases so it take less force to change their motion
What is Newtons 2nd law
F=ma
What are the units for f=ma
F - force (N)
m - mass (kg)
A - accelerate (m/s/s)
What’s Newtons 3rd law
Equal and Opposite
How does newtons 3rd law work?
Forces always come in pairs
You push on a wall the wall pushes back
Action force ->
<- Reaction force
Use Newtons Laws to explain why it is easier to turn a truck when it is empty than when it is carrying a heavy load.
Acceleration is the same but, it would take more force for a higher mass. Such as an heavy load. And it would take less force for less of a mass. Our full truck has more mass which means more inertia, which also means more residence to changing its motion. The empty truck has less inertia, less mass, and less resistance.
Why would a cart with 1N on one side and 4N on the other have a bigger change in motion?
It would have a bigger change because the unbalanced force.
What is the definition of Inerita?
Tendency to keep doing what it’s doing on resistance to changing its motion.
If you apply an equal amount of force to two objects of different masses what object will accelerate more?
The object with less mass will accelerate more.
What is a net force?
A net force is the sum of all forces acting on an object.
Does mass affect the falling speed of objects?
No, gravity is a constant.
The rate velocity changes with time?
Acceleration
Every object persists in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled to change that sate by forces impressed on it.
First Law of Motion
Measure of gravitational attraction or force or gravity pulling one object toward the center of another object is?
Weight
