Newtons first and seconds laws Flashcards
What is a force needed for ?
To change motion.
What is Newton’s law ?
It says that a resultant force is needed to make something start moving , speed to or slow down. IN MORE SCIENTIFIC WORDS : If a resultant force in a stationary object is zero, the object will remain stationary. If the resultant force on a moving object is zero, it’ll just carry on moving at the same velocity.
When a car is moving at a constant velocity the resistive and sieving forces must be ?
Balanced. The velocity will only change if there’s a non zero resultant force acting on the object.
What does a non-
zero resultant force always pressure ?
Acceleration or deceleration in the direct of the force.
The acceleration present when there is a non-
zero resultant force can take place in what 5 different forms?
Starting, stopping, speeding up, slowing down and changing direction.
The larger the resultant force acting in an object, the more the object accelerates. What does this show ?
That the force and the acceleration are directly proportional.
An object with a larger mass will accelerate less than one with a smaller mass. What does this show ?
Acceleration is inversely proportional to the mass of an object ?
What equation describes newton’s second law ?
Resultant force (N) = Mass (kg) x Acceleration (m/s^2)
