Newtonian Laws of Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Newton’s 1st Law
A
A body will move at a constant velocity unless a resultant external force acts upon it.
2
Q
Newton’s 2nd Law
A
The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the resultant external force upon it.
3
Q
Newton’s 3rd Law
A
If a body A exerts a force on body B, then body B exerts a force on body A which is; equal in magnitude, opposite in direction, and of the same type.
4
Q
Newton’s Law of Gravitation
A
Any two masses, m and M attract one another with a force that is proportional to the product of the two masses, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two masses.
