Q

what is inertia?

A

a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an external force

Q

what is acceleration?

A

force = mass x acceleration
the more force applied, the more acceleration and the more mass, the more force required

Q

what is an example of acceleration?

A

a football lineman pushing a blocking sled
as more mass is added, the lineman must use more force and the more force they apply, the more acceleration the sled will have

Q

what is an example of action-reaction?

A

a basketball player jumping applies a force onto the ground
in turn, the ground applies an equal and opposite force propelling the player upwards
