Newton's 3 Laws Flashcards
Force
A push or a pull exerted on an object on order to change the motion of the object.
Motion
A change in position over time.
Net Force
The combination of all of forces acting on an object.
Speed
Distance traveled per rate of time. Speed=distance/time.
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time.
Newton’s First Law
An object rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
Newton’s Second Law
Force=massXacceletation
Newton’s Third Law
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction.
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being moved of if the object moving to resist a change in speed of direction until outside force acts on the object
Friction
A force that resists motion.
Mass
The amount of matter in an object.
Gravity
An attractive force that exists between all objects that have mass.
