Four laws passed by Congress to make the country more safer. It was mainly passed because of the recent treatment from Britain of kidnapping American sailors.
What did the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions give the states the power to do? Why did they want this power.
It gave the states the power of nullifying (legally overturned) federal laws they thought were unconstitutional. The states wanted this power so they can get rid of a rule they think is unconstitutional.
What does it mean to nullify? How is that related to the idea of states rights?
Nullify means to legally overturn. It is related to states right as states have the right to nullify a federal law if they think it is unconstitutional.
Why did Thomas Jefferson want to control the Louisiana Territory?
Because the Louisiana territory was rich in resources, and also would help him in his goal in expanding the country.
Who controls the Louisiana Territory? Why did they sell?
France, as they needed money because of the War with Britain and they also wanted to focus more on land in Europe.
Why was Jefferson criticized for the Louisiana Purchase? What was his justification for doing so?
As it was not stated in the constitution, and he said that he will not do anything that is unconstitutional, but he justified that came over the negotiating treaties aw of the constitution.
What geographic advantages did the United States get after the Louisiana Purchase?
- land expansion (country’s size got doubled)
- many rivers mainly consisting of the Mississippi

Who are Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and what did they accomplish?
They were the people who explored the Louisiana Territory.
Who is Sacagawea and what role did she play in the Corps of Discovery?
Sacagawea was a Native American lady who helped Lewis and Clark In the exploration by being a translator for Native American language and by using geographical knowledge.
What were the causes of the War of !812?

What is an impressment?
A form of conscription where people are forced to join the military.
What is an embargo?
Ban on trade.
Who were the War Hawks?
Congress men who thought Britain still thinks that America is their colony.

Being loyal and respected for your country.
