- 500k AA fired in 1933 National Industry Recovery Act, weren’t classed as skilled
- Jesse Owens –>back door of the White House
- No chance to voting rights, segregation continued

- Seprate court system for NA abandoned
- NA insufficient funds to buy back former lands
- Natives not consulted or involved in IRA - Collier = paternalistic
- IRA continued assimilation
- Improvements were not permanent or maintained.

- Division between skilled/unskilled + immigrants
- Henry Ford ignores NIRA + Wagner Act until 1942
- Non-unionised workers don’t benefit
- AA + women still faced discrimination
- Ethnic differences - immigration from Japan, China, Europe

- 1936 Gallup Poll suggested 82% opposed to women working
- Only 9 women entered politics by 1939
- Falling wages especially hit domestic workers
- Public work projects largely just provide for men
- Female teacher in 1939 earnt 20% less than male
