AND EITHER
1. Temp >38oC
2. Clinical signs of sepsis

Aetiology

A

Typically 10-14 days after chemotherapy

ORGANISMS
Gram +Ve/-ve bacteria
Atypical bacteria (pneumocystis carinii pneumonia PCP)
Fungal

Pyrexia (>38oC)
Rigors
Rash
Inflammation
Infective symptoms
Hypotension

Management

A
  1. Empirical antibiotics e.g. Tazocin IMMEDIATELY
  2. Narrow-spectrum antibiotics when culture through from microbiologists

Fluids if hypotensive
