Neuroscience - Blood and Immune Response Flashcards
leukocytes (lou-kuh-sites)
Leukocytes are white blood cells (WBCs), which are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders. All white blood cells are produced and derived from multipotent cells in the bone marrow known as hematopoietic (he-mat-oh-poi-ee-tic) stem cells; Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the stem cells that give rise to other blood cells. Leukocytes are found throughout the body, including the blood and lymphatic system.

Hypoperfusion (hy·po·per·fu·sion)
Hypoperfusion (shock) is the inadequate delivery of blood flow carrying vital oxygen and nutrients to an organ.
