Neuroradiology Flashcards
brightest and darkest tissues on CT
bright: highest density (e.g. bone)
black: lowest density (air, fat)
blood is ___ on CT
bright/white
d/t atomic density (Fe)
applies to both clotted and flowing
clotted - additional density from clot retraction
clot in superior saggital sinus (CT with contrast)
notice empty delta sign (empty white triangle at arrow, compare normal below on no contrast)
epidural hematoma (CT)
subdural hematoma (acute)
chronic subdural hematoma
note that it is nearly isodense with brain d/t age (can be even more isodense)
acute subdural hematoma along tentorium
multiple system atrophy (most likely)
“hot cross bun” sign
(can be seen in different forms of cerebellar dysfunction but a classic finding in MSA)
astrocytoma
astrocytoma
adult type diffuse glioma
