Neuroradiology Flashcards
CT uses & advantages
1- Radiation , computed cross sectional imaging
2- Good for trauma, brain ventricules size , fractured bones/skull
3- Fast, easily accessible
USS uses
Neonatal brain scanning
Nucleus imaging Uses
Selective use: Cancer, epilepsy , neurodegenerative diseases
MRI
1- no radiation
2- superior contrast and resolution of neural tissue
3- long scan times and not as easily accessible
Ischaemic stroke Imaging
1- CT scan for cross sectional image of brain ( always ) - dark infarction
2- MRI scan ( if needed) - bright white infarction
3- Clot retrieval - angiogram into cerebral arteries to find clot and it’s taken out
Treatment for sacrococcygygeal teratoma
