Q

What causes neuropathy?

A

There is still no conclusive proof as to the cause of diabetic neuropathy.

Factors which may contribute, however, is hyperglycaemia.

Hyperglycaemia causes chemical changes in the nerves that can impair their ability to transmit signals. It can also harm blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to the nerves.
