- Neck stiffness
- bulging fontanelle
- Non-blanching purpuric rash
- Kernig’s sign
- Brudzinki’s sign (flexion of head cause involuntary flex at knees)

A
- Blood culture
- PCR for meningococcus

What is the most common cause of meningitis in children?
A
Neonates: Group B strep
Children: N. meningitidis (meningococcal disease) or S. pneumoniae

What is the Mx for meningococcal disease?
A
Arrange emergency admission if suspecting meningococcal disease/septicaemia or with non-blanching rash
1)Give benzylpenicillin
