Autism Spectrum Disorder (F84.0), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability Disorder, Communication Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder, Motor Disorders, Global Developmental Delay, Unspecified Intellectual Disability.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts that may include the following criteria:
- deficits in social-emotional reciprocity
- deficits in non-verbal communication
- deficits in developing and maintaining relationships
- repetitive motor movements
- insistence on routines and ritualized pattens
- intense fixation on objects or subjects
- Hyper or Hypo sensitivity to objects, clothing, food, etc.
Onset of symptoms must be present in early developmental stage.
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
A persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development and criteria may include the following:
- difficulty given close attention to details
- making mistakes in schoolwork, at work or other activities
- difficulty sustaining attention
- difficulty following instructions
- avoids engaging in activities that requires sustained mental effort
- often loses things necessary for tasks
- often forgetful in daily activities
- talks excessively
- often fidgety when seated
- hyperactivity
- blurts out answer before answer is completed
- difficulty waiting turn
- interrupts or intrudes on others
Onset of symptoms usually present prior to age 12 years.
Intellectual Disability Disorder
disorder that includes both intellectual and adaptive functioning deficits in conceptual, social, and practical domains. Symptoms can be mild, moderate, or severe.
Onset of symptoms usually present during developmental period.
Specific Learning Disorder
Difficulties learning and using academic skills, as indicated by the presence of at least one of the related criteria that have persisted for at least 6 months.
Onset of symptoms usually present during school age years.
Motor Disorders
Stereotypic Movement Disorder - Repetitive, purposeless motor behavior (pg. 77 of DSM5)
Tic Disorders - a sudden, rapid recurrent, nonrhythmic motor movement or vocalization (pg. 81 of DSM5)
Global Developmental Disorder
Child meets some criteria of an intellectual developmental disorder, however, does not meet full criteria. Synonymous to Unspecified Intellectual Disability, however, age of onset is under age 5. Individuals meeting similar criteria over age 5 can be diagnosed with Unspecified Intellectual Disability. (Look at page 41 of DSM5 for more information on this DX.)
