Neuroanesthesia Flashcards
CBF
50 ml/100g/min
Metabolic rate temperature PaCo2 PaO2 (60-200mmHg) if low CBF augmented
In hypotension the responsiveness to CO2 is abolished (25-75mmHg) is proportional
Autonomic hyperreflexia
Begins 2-3 weeks post acute injury
Occurs with stimulation below injury level
Leading to uninhibited sympathetic stimulation
85% occur with level injury above T5
Neurogenic shock
Unopposed parasympathetic stimulation
Bradycardia
Hypotension
Loss of cardioaccelerator fiber T1-T4
Atropine epinephrine pacing
Diaphragm compromise up to C3
Cushing reflex
Hypertension activation of SNS
Bradycardia reflex
Irregular respiration ( ischemia in respiratory centers)
Cornea reflex
The corneal reflex involves the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve (afferent limb) and the temporal and zygomatic branches of the facial nerve.
