What eye condition is associated with enrofloxacin
Enroflox induced retinopathy
List 2 parasitic ocular diseases that occur in camelids
Thalezia
Toxoplasma gondii

What other sensory defecit may lack of iris pigmentation (blue iris) be associated with
Apigmentation of the iris (blue eye, glass eye) - blue colour caused by lack of melanin pigmentation in the iris rx in refraction of light through the iris
Lack of pigmentation has been assoc w deafness in white cats, white rabbits, and has been recognised in some but not all while llamas and alpacas with blue eyes
Deafness seems to rx from a deficit in endolymph production
Definitive dx is through BAER UGA
List some ddx for ear dz in llama/alpacas
Dermatophytes (ringworm) and mange (sarcoptic and demodectic) have been reported without causing dermatits
Otitis externa - common problem but cause not always apparent; spinose ear tick, Otobius megnini, may be a regional problem
FB - Grass seeds may also enter and cause epithelial damage increasing susceptibility to opportunistic pathogens
What clinical signs are typically pathognomonic for middle ear disease?
Horners and facial nerve signs together are virtually pathognomonic for middle ear disease as the 2 structures are juxtaposed only in this location
Otitis media/interna - usually dt direct extension of otitis externa
FBs may penetrate tympanic membrane, and listeria infection also reported as a cause
