Neuro physiology Flashcards
Which are the systems helps to maintain homeostasis
Neuro
Endocrine
Nervous system is responsible for ?
Behaviours
Emotions
Movements
Quick and rapid response
Endocrine system is responsible for?
Production of hormones
Slow response since the hormone has to get into the bloodstream and go to the target sit to carry out the activity
Nervous system
Sensory receptor( when you feel a touch) then you get the sensory input - you integrate it in the brain and then the movement occurs through motor output)
Action potential (Nerve impulse)
signalling device, communicating with body cells and electrical impulses
The CNS
compress 2 structures (brain and the spinal cord)
The PNS
Compresses all the other nervous throughout the body ( all the cranial nerves)
ganglia ( Clusters of nerve cells outside the CNS)
Spinal Nerve
Serves the blood supply of all the upper and lower limbs
Afferent ( Sensory nervous system)
Smell, taste, hearing, balance, vision
Efferent ( Motor nervous system )
Movement
