Cat: anti-tubercular

Use: Meningitis ppx

Dose: 600mg PO q24h x 4days for H. flu
OR 600 mg PO q12h x 4 doses (Neisseria)

AE: rash, anorexia, cramps, N/V/D, pseudomembranous colitis, elevated LFTs

CI: hypersensitivity, concurrent use of amprenavir or other protease inhibitors

Use: Meningitis (>1 month)

Dose: 30-60mg/kg/day in divided doses q8-12hrs

AE: nephrotoxicity, otoxicity, Red neck/man syndrome

15mg/kg/day –> inc by 5-10mg/kg/day weekly until therapeutic levels are reached. Max: 60mg/kg/day

AE: Tremor, weight gain, hepatic failure, thrombocytopenia, N/V, ataxia, sedation. Pg D

CI: hypersensitivity, hepatic disease, urea cycle disorders, pregnant women for the prevention of migraine

AE: minimal – stinging on application, dry eyes, corneal anesthesia, blepharitis, blurred vision. Systemic: dec HR and BP, bronchospasm, masked hypoglycemia sxs, CNS sedation.

CI: asthma, bradycardia, unstable HF, sometimes COPD
