Neuro symptoms-Positive
Excitation:
Seizures
Tremors
Spasms
Tics
Spasticity
Hypertonicity
Hyperreflexia
Neuro symptoms-Negative
Loss of function:
Paresis (muscular weakness)
Paralysis
Hyposensitivity
Dementia
Aphasia(inability to speak or understand speech) Syncope (passing out)
Gait dysfunction
Headaches
Dizziness, vision issues, weakness, loss of sensation
Syncope
typically related to reduced blood flow, can be related to hypotension
HA location: Sinus
pain is usually behind the forehead and or checkbones (chart on powerpoint)
HA location: Cluster
pain is in and around one eye (chart on powerpoint)
HA location: Tension
Pain is like a band squeezing the head (chart on powerpoint)
HA location: Migraine
Pain, nausea, and visual changes are typically of classic form (chart on powerpoint)
Need to know number, name of cranial nerves, function, and testing
1 nose, 2 eyes, 3 4 6 make your eyes do tricks, 5 up side your face
(look at powerpoint for drawing of face to remember)
Dermatomes
regions of skin that receive their sensation from a particular nerve root
Strip of skin the nerve root intervates

Myotomes:tested via gross motor assessments
need to know nerve root, muscle, and what section to test
Myotomes: C5
shoulder abduction (deltoid)
Myotomes: C6
Elbow flexion (biceps, brachiorad)
Myotomes: C7
Elbow extension (triceps)
