What does the anterior cranial fossa contain?
frontal lobe
What does the middle cranial fossa contain?
temporal, parietal and occipital lobes
What does the posterior cranial fossa contain?
cerebellum, pons and medulla oblongata
What does the medial rectus do?
move the eye inwards, towards the nose
What innervates the medial rectus?
oculomotor nerve
What does the lateral rectus do?
move the eye outwards, away from the nose
What innervates the lateral rectus?
abducens nerve
What does the superior rectus do?
primarily moves the eye upward (elevation)
secondarily rotates the top of the eye toward the nose (intorsion)
tertiarily moves the eye inward (adduction)
What innervates the superior rectus?
oculomotor nerve
What does the inferior rectus do?
primarily moves the eye downward (depression).
secondarily rotates the top of the eye away from the nose (extorsion)
tertiarily moves the eye inward (adduction).
What does the superior oblique do?
primarily rotates the top of the eye toward the nose (intorsion)
secondarily moves the eye downward (depression).
tertiarily moves the eye outward (abduction).
What innervates the superior oblique?
trochlea nerve
What does the inferior oblique do?
primarily rotates the top of the eye away from the nose (extorsion).
secondarily moves the eye upward (elevation).
tertiarily moves the eye outward (abduction)
What innervates the inferior oblique?
oculomotor
