A malicious program which has the aim to replicate itself in order to spread to other nodes on a network. This is a complete program on its own. These disrupt a network causing traffic , denying services and damaging data.

Difference between a worm and a virus?

Worm can replicate itself without user intervation while a virus cannot. worm is actually a sub virus.
