DHCP( Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
A system that gives your computer an IP address when you connect to the internet.
IP Configuration
The settings that tell ypur device how to connect to a network, including it’s IP address and how to reach other devices or the internet.
APIPA( Automatic Private IP Addressing)
A feature that assigns your computer a default IP address when it cant get one from the DHCP server.
Default Gateway
The device that your computer uses to access the internet or another net work.
Loopback Address
A special IP address usually 127.0.0.1 that a computer uses to talk to itself for testing purposes.
IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)
A unique number assigned to your device that lets it communicate on a network.
Subnet Mask:
A number that helps your device know which part of the IP address identifies the network and which part identifies the device.
DNS Server (Domain Name System Server):
A system that translates website names (like www.google.com) into IP addresses so your device can find them on the internet.
