NETWORK CONCEPTS Flashcards
what is the purpose of Networks?
- networks allows us to make connections between machines.
- Networks allows multiple types traffic like data, video and voice.
- Network allows and creates an expectation of 99.999% of availability with 5% downtime.
what is converged Networks?
Converged Network is when multiple types network traffic such as data, video, and voice are combined.
Name the 8 types of Network traffic. (FVSSEMV)
- File sharing
- video chatting
- surfing the web
- social media
- streaming video
- Messaging
- Voip
what is a client?
a Client is a any Device we use to access the network with
Examples of Client
some examples of Client includes:
1) computer work station at your job
2) laptop
3) tablets
4) smartphone
5) television
6) server
7) other terminal devices
What is a Server?
Provides the resources (or info) to the rest of the network.
Examples of Server (EWFCP)
Some examples of Servers includes:
1) E-mail server
2) Web server
3) File server
4) Chat server
5) Print Server
what forms can a Server take in our world
1) servers sometimes are seen in a form of dedicated hardware/software or
2) Server can be a device that acts like a server for a particular function.
what is a Hub?
A hub is an old Technology that we use to connect network devices, such as clients and servers.
why is HUB inefficient today?
Hubs are inefficient today because although it can be utilized as inter connectors for providing more ports, it leads to to high network errors.
How does HUBs work?
Hubs works by receiving information in one port and rebroadcasting it to all other ports.
what does WAP stand for?
Wireless Access Point
what does WAP do?
WAP allows wireless devices to connect into a wired network.
what are the most common places we are able to identify WAP?
we find WAPs being used in homes, small businesses, and sometimes large enterprise networks.
what other uses are WAP used for?
we sometimes use WAP to act as a wireless hub.
