What is a Network Based Firewall?
it is a fully managed firewall service that helps protect your
network by providing secure inbound and outbound Internet access through security gateways. Rather than having the firewall reside in a traditional on-premises solution, network-based firewalls are deployed
in the service provider’s cloud infrastructure.
Are you able to self host a firewall?
Yes. Many companies have self hosted firewalls. Often times, because of an attack or some other kind of security breach, companies look to have their firewall hosted by someone else.
Do Firewalls have to be maintained?
Yes. There are always new risks that are attacking our networks. Frequently security patches and vulnerabilities need to be updated to keep your network secure.
Why do companies move toward Network Based Firewalls?
Often companies have breaches in security that have left them open to exposure and risk. Sometimes they have older firewall technology that does not have the new functionality of a hosted solution and find it necessary to upgrade.
Is cost a big factor in Purchasing a Firewall?
Yes. The cost of maintaining your own firewall is not just the equipment. Experienced and trained people around the clock is necessary to maintain your firewall. If you are looking for a predictable operating expense then a Network Based Firewall may be a good option.
