nervous system
consists of central nervous system, and peripheral nervous system
nervous system - what is it?
a specialised network of cells in the human body and is our primal internal communication system
- to collect, process and respond to the environment
- to coordinate the working organ in the body
central nervous system
consists of the brain and spinal cord and is the origin of all complex commands and decisions
peripheral nerveus system
sends information to the central nervous system from the outside world and transits message from the CNS to muscles and glands in the body
somatic nervous system
(part of PNS) controls muscle movements and recipes information from sensory receptors
autonomic nervous system
(part of PNS) covers vital functions in the body and transits information to and from bodliy organs eg breathing, digesting, stress response
