Nervous System 2 Flashcards
Sensory axons join the CNS via what root?
Via the dorsal, posterior root
Motor axons joint the CNS at what root?
Ventral, anterior
Spinal afferents have their cell bodies where? Sensory fibre
PNS
Posterior root ganglion
Spinal efferents have their cell body where?
Away from the CNS to the organ, so the motor fibre
In the CNS, anterior horn
How many cranial nerves are there and what system is this part of?
12 cranial nerves and part of the PNS
The PNS is made of what 2systems?
Somatic and Autonomic
What are the 2 types of autonomic nervous systems?
Sympathetic and Parasympathetic
Describe the ganglia in Sympathetic system and the neurotransmitters involved?
Short pre ganglionic fibre which secretes Ach
Post ganglia is long and releases Norepinephrine
Describe the ganglia in parasympathetic fibres and neurotransmitters involved?
Long pre ganglionic fibre that secretes Ach
Short post ganglionic fibre that also secretes Ach
Where do the somatic nervous systems direct to?
Skeletal muscles
