Nervous system Flashcards

1
Q

What are the functions of the nervous system?

A

1- Receive and process information from the environment

2- Coordinate and carry out an appropriate action to respond to those stimuli

Q

Define the Somatic Nervous System

A

It is one of the two divisions of the peripheral nervous system (other one is visceral aka automatic)

The stimuli is largely external (touch, vibration, external forces due to gravity, etc)

The response is voluntary ( have control over the skeletal muscles)

Q

What is the spinal nerve ?

A

A bundle of sensory and motor neurons that emerge from the spinal cord (CNS) at regulate intervals to modulate sensory and motor information from the body periphery
