Q

what are neurones

A

Function: Transmit electrical impulse from one end of the cell to the other end

sensory neurone:To transmit impulses from receptors to spinal cord or brain (central nervous system)

motor neurone: To transmit impulses from the central nervous system to effector organs, such as muscles or glands.

relay neurone: to relay impulses from sensory neurones to motor neurones.

Q

relax arcs

A

The reflex arc consists of a receptor, which may be a sensory
organ, connected by neurones to an effector, which may
be a muscle or gland.

◼The action begins when the receptors on a sense organ
detect a stimulus, a sudden increase in pressure it the
hand touches the cactus
◼This becomes an nerve impulse transmitted by a sensory
neurone to the spinal cord.
◼In the spinal cord, the nerve impulse is transmitted to the
relay neurone, and then to the motor neurone.
◼The motor neurone transmits the impulses from the spinal
cord to the effector.
◼When it arrives at the effector, the impulse causes a
response – the muscle to contract to move the hand away
from the cactus
